Top Theme Park Attractions: The 12 Oldest Rollercoasters In America

Wild One

Wild One/Giant Coaster – 1917
Six Flags America, Upper Marlboro, Maryland

One of the most underrated coaster rides in the U.S., the Wild One is a true wood coaster classic. 15 years younger than Leap the Dips, the Wild One is a huge advancement in innovation and a hundred times the thrill of any predecessor. Rising to a height of 98 feet, then dropping 88 feet, Wild One boasts a top speed of 53 MPH (85 KPH).

This ride is aptly named and really holds up well. Originally known as Giant Coaster, it was once the featured attraction at Massachusetts’ Paragon Park. It has been in its current spot at Six Flags America since 1986.
