Leap the dips

Leap The Dips – 1902
Lakemont Park, Altoona, Pennsylvania

Leap the Dips is somewhat of an historical curiosity. The ride is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as an American Historical Landmark. With a tiny drop of just 9 feet and a top speed of a harrowing 10 MPH (about 19 KMH), this isn’t exactly a screamy type of ride, and yet it’s a ride that should be experienced if for no other reason than the fact that it’s over a century old and still operates. That’s pretty impressive for anything these days!
