Thunderbolt/The Pippin – 1924
Kennywood, West Mifflin, Pennsylvania
Originally known as the Pippin, Kennywood’s Thunderbolt starts out with a big drop coming directly out of the station. It does have a lift hill, but it’s unusually set in the middle of the ride. Making it even more a curiosity, it saves the best for last: a huge 90-foot drop that comes almost at the end of the ride.
