An old Cherokee legend gives warning of a witch who goes by the name of Spearfinger who allegedly haunts the Norton Creek, preying on lost children. There also appears to be a friendlier spirit in the area as well and a good number of hikers have reported becoming lost and being led out of harm’s way by a strange spectral light.
