The Tail of the Dragon – Tennessee/Deals Gap

Regarded as one of most outstanding motorcycle routes in America this 11-mile stretch is part of US Route 129. It is popularly known as the Dragon’s Tail owing to its many sinuous curves. There are more than 300 of them to challenge seasoned riders.

Some of the sharpest curves on Deals Gap have been nicknamed Gravity Cavity and Copperhead Corner. This route provides a two-way challenging stretch that passes through Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Other nearby attractions include the Tree of Shame shrine where you will find motorcycle parts believed to have been attached by riders who failed to tame the dragon. The recommended speed limit via this route is 35mph.
