Best Vacation Destinations: 5 Amazing Landmarks

2. St Peter’s Basilica

By far one of the most famous landmarks in the world, St Peter’s Basilica is located in the Vatican. Situated inside the city of Rome, the Vatican is actually the smallest country on earth. Famous for its beautiful architecture, artwork, and rich religious history, this is a must-see for anyone, regardless of faith. They offer a tour to the underground tombs which is well worth taking and makes a lasting impression.

The sheer size of the Basilica and the outstanding pieces of art housed there will really leave you speechless. Do keep in mind, however, that you aren’t allowed to take pictures inside the Sistine Chapel.

While visiting The Vatican, there are quite a few other sights you will want to take in. There are a number of charming restaurants including the Mondo Arancina – a local favorite and one highly recommended by visitors. You can get there by walking from Via Germanico down to Via Marcantonio Colonna. There are also a number of museums, all of which are worth the visit to experience.
